Converting up to 80% of nitrogen oxide, AdBlue® is a high-quality solution for diesel Engines, helping to aid cleaner driving.

An aqueous diesel exhaust ﬂuid which consists of 32.5% urea and 67.5% demineralised water as a solvent;
Significant component of the highly efficient selective catalytic reduction system (SCR) for cleaner driving;
In SCR technology AdBlue® ﬂuid is injected directly into the exhaust stream;
In the subsequent catalytic process up to 80% of the nitrogen oxide will be converted into harmless nitrogen and water;
Helps to reduce the environmentally harmful nitrogen oxide emissions of diesel Engines.

What is AdBlue^®?

AdBlue^® is a colourless, non-toxic liquid that is a solution of water and urea. It works to convert nitrogen oxide emissions in the exhaust gas of diesel engines, into nitrogen and water. A particulate filter then further reduces solid particulates from the vehicle’s exhaust emissions.

If you own a new Ford Diesel vehicle, you might have spotted a second, smaller blue coloured filler cap, just beside the main fuel filler cap. This means your car is fitted with AdBlue^® technology.

Many new Ford diesel vehicles now require the use of a diesel exhaust fluid commonly referred to as AdBlue^®. This fluid is automatically injected into the vehicle’s exhaust system to help reduce emissions of nitrogen oxide.

AdBlue^® is stored in a separate tank which must be kept topped-up by the driver. Further information on AdBlue^® can be found below, or in your vehicle Owner’s Manual.

Does my vehicle need AdBlue^®?

AdBlue^® is only used for keeping diesel emissions as clean as possible. However, not all new Ford diesel vehicles will require AdBlue^®. If you spot a second, smaller blue coloured filler cap just beside the main fuel filler cap, your vehicle needs AdBlue^®. See your Owner’s Manual or speak to your Ford Dealer to learn more.

How does AdBlue^® work?

AdBlue^® is automatically injected into the vehicle’s exhaust system, then works to convert nitrogen oxide exhaust gas emissions into nitrogen and water. A particulate filter then reduces solid particulates from the vehicle’s exhaust emissions.

How to top-up Adblue®

AdBlue^® is stored in a separate tank which you will need to ensure is kept topped-up.

Remember! AdBlue^® gets its own tank which is identified by a blue cap. Do not try to put AdBlue^® directly into your fuel tank.

Look out for the AdBlue^® message and warning light

If your AdBlue^® level is low, a notification will appear in your vehicle’s information cluster display, and a warning light will illuminate on your dashboard.

Be advised that your diesel engine is not permitted to operate without AdBlue. Once the engine is turned off, a re-start is prevented until your AdBlue level has been refilled.

Locate the tank filler cap

The AdBlue^® tank filler is located beside (or under) the diesel fuel filler cap on your Ford vehicle. The AdBlue^® filler can be identified by its blue cap and will also be labelled.

Fill up using the AdBlue^® container

Use your AdBlue^® container to fill the AdBlue^® tank. Information on capacity of your Diesel Exhaust Fluid (AdBlue) tank can be found in your Owner`s Manual.

How often do I need to top up AdBlue^®?

How often you need refill your AdBlue^® tank will depend on several things, including your vehicle model and engine size, your AdBlue^® usage, and driving style. However, a tank of AdBlue^® can usually last between 2330 miles and 6835 miles following an AdBlue^® consumption between 1% and 6% of the diesel fuel consumption*.

*Figure based on average usage on a Ford Focus 1.5L Diesel for lower mileage and higher percentage and Transit 2.0L Diesel for higher mileage and lower percentage.
